Inspector

Western States Machine Company, a manufacturer of large capital equipment for the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, located in Fairfield, Ohio, needs an Inspector. Our Inspectors are responsible for performing mechanical inspections of all parts and assemblies and of verifying that incoming product meets the Company’s purchase order requirements.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Read and interpret product drawings and understand geometric tolerances and dimensioning application(s).
  • Verify and review inspection documentation and material certifications to assure they meet the product drawing, specification, and purchase order requirements.
  • Mark parts by utilizing one or more part marking processes (e.g. manual vibro-peen, controlled dot peen, and/or, other marking methods (as applicable).
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process and finished components, sub-assemblies and products and documenting the results of the inspection.
  • Reject all damaged or nonconforming parts and corresponds with the Materials department on disposition of rejected parts that may be scrap, and/or, require rework.
  • Assist in the disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Assist Quality and Engineering in investigations of process related quality issues.
  • Provide documentation to the Materials Department so that items can be received into inventory control system.
  • Performs administrative duties that are pertinent to the job.
  • Assist with ongoing cost reduction efforts.

What we are looking for:

  • Must possess at least 3 years in Mechanical Inspecting and/or Quality Assurance role
  • Must be able to use and read micrometers, pi tapes, calipers, and other measuring equipment
  • Must have ability to read mechanical and manufacturing drawings and blueprints
  • Must possess a working knowledge of GD & T
  • Must be detail oriented, keeping accurate records and files
  • Willing to become proficient with new equipment and methods
  • Willing to work flexible hours and overtime
  • Willing to work with QA Team to find innovative solutions
  • Willing to provide input for work instructions
  • Willing to obtain and maintain ASME/National Board-Certified Inspector accreditation

Electrical Engineer

Western States Machine Company, a manufacturer of large capital equipment for the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, located in Fairfield, Ohio, needs an Electrical Engineer. Our Electrical Engineers are responsible for developing electrical and controls system solutions based on engineering principles. This includes selection, sizing and specifications of motors, controls and other electrical equipment.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Confer with supervisors and Sales Department relative to customer needs. Act as an advisor in Electrical Engineering field.
  • Use principles of electrical engineering, knowledge of previous installations and the demands of customer as basics in creating the design of new or modified equipment.
  • Create drawings, PLC ladder logic, and HMI displays to implement new designs.
  • Check finished drawings, specifications and bill of material lists before release in ample time to assure on time shipments.
  • Advise Purchasing Department on the selection of motors, controls and other electrical equipment as determined by engineering specifications.
  • Work with vendors on the assembly of electrical components and check completed work.
  • When required, assist production in supervising machine testing. Document the results, and update the drawings and instructions to reflect any change resulting from the test.
  • Provide detailed operating instructions on the operation of equipment.
  • Investigate and act on problems reported from the field.
  • Occasionally visit domestic and international customer plants to obtain data, install, or modify electrical equipment or programs.
  • Keep abreast of new ideas through reading books, technical journals and studying specifications of new products and systems.

What we are looking for:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum five years of experience in electrical design.
  • Experience in design, repair and analysis of electrical systems. Must have experience applying electrical engineering design principals and methodologies.
  • Proficient in Autocad (Autocad Electrical preferred)
  • Ability to develop and troubleshoot software for PLCs and HMIs (Allen Bradley and Siemens preferred)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to utilize MS office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
